Waverley Borough Council have approved a planning application to convert the Jolly Sailor into housing. The Council considered CAMRAs objection and acknowledged our arguments, but sadly felt that the local community had not demonstrated that they valued the pub. In their report the Council said “We consider it highly significant that Farnham Town Council have no objection to the principle of the loss of the public house use. As a barometer of formal local public opinion, we think that this provides a reliable indicator of “public demand”. A stark indication of the value of a local community campaign.
