  • Good Beer Guide 2027 Celebration Tuesday 20 October 2026 Barley Mow, The Sands

    The 54th edition of the CAMRA Good Beer Guide was launched recently and we are having a launch event at the Barley Mow, The Sands.

    We will be at the pub between 5-8pm, celebrating the launch and selling copies of the new Guide at a special reduced price for CAMRA Members

    The Barley Mow is a 1-2 mile walk from the nearest bus stops in Badshot Lea or Tongham, or Surrey Connect (on demand bus service) is available from Ash or Farnham Stations, but needs to be pre-booked. Getting home - Surrey Connect again should be available until 6.30pm. Otherwise we are arranging a complementary taxi to Ash Station (for trains to Farnborough & Guildford) and Aldershot Station (for trains to Farnham, Camberley and Woking.) The exact time is to be confirmed to meet people’s needs and if you are interested to contact Kevin Travers at ku.gro.armac.bhs@sbup by Tuesday 12th October with your preferred time and destination.

  • Pubs by 479 Bus Saturday 14 November 2026

    Join Tony Lea as he takes us to visit pubs on the 479 bus route, east of Guildford.

    Then catch the 12.28 479 Bus from Guildford Friary Bus Station (probably stand 17). Alight at the Effingham Church Street bus stop at 12.53 for a 3 minute walk to the Plough: https://camra.org.uk/pubs/plough-effingham-150965

  • Staines Brewery Visit, Historic Breweries & Pubs Day Out Wednesday 25 November 2026 12:00

    Join local pub and brewery enthusiast Tony Fox-Griffith on a walk around Staines upon Thames, to learn about the history of brewing here and visiting all the GBG pubs in town – the day will finish with a brewery visit.

    There are two options:

    1. The official walking tour limited to the first 12 people who apply by emailing Tony: moc.tenretnitb@htiffirgxof.ynot. The walk will take about 1½ hours with beer breaks on top.

    2. Self-guided tour to the same pubs - anyone is welcome to join this one. If you want to spend more time enjoying the pubs or don't want to walk a long way you are recommended to take this option.

    Both groups will see the fairly substantial but unloved remains of the Thomas Harris Knowle Green Brewery. The walkers will then (amongst other sights) see the three previous locations of Staines' excellent Thames Side Brewery, the three (two closed) railway stations, sites of two car manufacturers (one you will certainly have heard of, the other not!), a number of sadly closed pubs, all the pubs in the 2025 and 2026 GBGs, the former HQ of Courage Brewery and the impressive remains of Ashby's Brewery founded in 1783 amongst others, before visiting the Thames Side Brewery and Taproom. Tony will also show you some fascinating pictures from the town's brewing and pub past. The non-walkers will have a map and pub guide so they can discover Staines' excellent pubs before meeting back with the rest of the group at Thames Side Brewery for a chat by Andy Hayward (owner and head brewer) about the brewery's short but fascinating history.

    Full details will be sent out nearer the time but both groups will meet Tony at the Old Red Lion (last in the 2022 GBG), Leacroft, Staines TW18 4PB between 12 noon and 12.30pm. The pub is very convenient for the station. The day will finish around 5pm but you are of course welcome to explore the town's fine hostelries further.

  • Folkestone Weekend Friday 27 – Sunday 29 November 2026

  • Fleet & Elvetham Heath Pub Tour Wednesday 16 December 2026

    Join Kevin Travers for a late afternoon and evening tour of pubs in and around some of the rarely visited pubs of Fleet and Elvetham Heath.

    Meet at Falkners Arms from 15.15 before walking to Fleet Station to catch Service 7 at 16.21 to the De Havilland Arms

    We will have about an hour there before catching the Service 7 back to Fleet town centre at 17.56 where we will visit several pub in the town centre, including the Oatsheaf from 18.15 and then onto the Emporium before walking back just past the station to conclude the evening at the Heron on the Lake.

  • Farnham Beerex Thursday 22 – Saturday 24 April 2027 Farnham Maltings, Farnham

    Tickets for the 49th Farnham Beerex are likely to go on sale in early December farnhambeerex.org.uk.

    Beerex is run in association with the Farnham Lions Club CIO so free entry is not available to CAMRA members.

    Session times

    Still to be confirmed but based on 2026 timings

    • Thursday, Friday, Saturday evening: 6.00pm - 11.00pm
    • Friday lunchtime: 11.00am - 3.00pm
    • Saturday lunchtime: 11.00am - 3.30pm

    The minimum age for entry is 18 years.

    Tickets give entry to Beerex, a Beerex pint polyglass, a souvenir programme and live music at each session, apart from Friday lunchtime which will be a quiet session with tables and chairs laid out in the Great Hall.

    Farnham Maltings provide food at all sessions and there will be a variety of street food vendors located immediately outside the Maltings with easy access to them.
