The pub closed in June 2021 and a planning application was submitted to demolish the pub and build 5 houses on the site the following year. In October 2022 the application was refused by the Council for a range of reasons although the principle of the loss of the pub was accepted as it was not considered viable and both the Three Mariners and King’s Head nearby offer alternative facilities.
