Terry's Thameside Tootle (London)

Wednesday 3 April 2024 11:15

Join Terry Hartshorn as he takes us for a walk along the Thames path from Waterloo to Greenwich, visiting pubs on route.

We'll meet Terry Hartshorn under the clock at Waterloo Station for a prompt 11am start. The first planned visit is to The Mayflower, Rotherhithe: https://whatpub.com/pubs/SEL/10711/mayflower-rotherhithe, which is an approximate 3.5 mile walk along the Thames Path arriving around 12.15pm. However, if you wish to travel by public transport, take the Jubilee Line to Canada Water from where it is a 0.5 mile walk - please note that the pub opens at 12pm.

If anyone would like to have lunch at the pub (food is recommended by Terry), then please let Terry know and he will reserve an inside table. There is also a covered external area over the river which is always available for walk-ins.

After lunch the next visit will be to The Dog & Bell, Deptford: https://whatpub.com/pubs/SEL/10902/dog-bell-deptford, which is a further 3 mile walk along the river. Or you can catch the 47 or 188 bus from Southwark Park to Sayes Court with a short walk at either end.

Return to Waterloo will be via the Thames (Uber) Clipper from Greenwich Pier, which is a 1 mile walk from the pub traveling to the London Eye, with an option to visit The The Kings Arms, Roupell St: https://whatpub.com/pubs/SEL/10553/kings-arms-london prior to traveling home.

For the Thames Clipper it is easier to book a ticket in advance online, although you can tap in or use the ticket machine at the pier. If you have a bus pass you can get a 50% concession ticket.

Apart from the start time the day will be flexible so adjustments can be made according to the beers available.
