This is a very popular local Arts Centre in a former junior school. Although they are open during the day, term time only, for a variety of classes, the bar is only open in the evenings. Classes continue in the evenings alongside meetings, performances and exhibitions. They have an up to date website, where you can easily find out what is happening on any given date. The Facebook events page is also kept up to date, listing the various music, comedy and theatre nights. A single real ale is constantly changing, but it will only be available on busy show nights. Do check with the Westy to see if real ale is going to be available, particularly if you are making a special visit to there, for real ale alone. The bar is open to everyone on most evenings, Monday - Saturday. However, if there are standing events on in the main hall, or the venue is booked for a private function, then general public will not be admitted. On these occasions, where there are ticket checks on the front door for fire safety reasons, only ticket holders are admitted to the premises. The keg bar has Hogs Back Hogstar and two from London Fields; Three Weiss Monkeys and Hackney Hopster IPA, as permanent features. There is also a rotating craft keg line too. You will find a good range of bottled beers on the shelf (or in the fridge if you prefer) many of them from breweries local to the venue. A fine range of craft canned ales is also stocked. The venue holds a well supported beer festival in early January (get your tickets in advance) and a music festival, Westival, in the summer. Be aware, the car park at the back of the venue can fill up quickly on busy nights. As mentioned above, private bookings are taken, so if you wish to hire a room at the Westy do contact them.
