See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
This traditional pub, with timbered gables, bay windows, and ivy-covered walls was once the northern gateway to the estate of Lord Winterton. Comfortably furnished, and with a roaring fire in the Winter months, the pub has a cozy feel to it, while in the Summer months the tree-filled garden is well used. There is a separate restaurant area off to one side, although you can dine anywhere in the pub. Food is available all day, using local produce wherever possible. Burger Tuesday and Chop Wednesday meal promotions are run and there is a Gin Club on Thursday. There is a strong focus on local breweries, resulting in their accreditation to CAMRA’s “Locale” scheme. In addition to the real ales there are a further half dozen keg beers on tap and a fridge full of an eclectic range of bottled and canned beers from, predominantly London-based micro-breweries.
